Transatlantic last night.  I can't remember the last time I went to a Portnoy show, but it's been way too long.

Jim White @ TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht last night.

Fun show with A+ country noir songs. They covered Once in a Lifetime. David Byrne signed Jim White for his Luaka Bop label and he supported the Talking Heads back in the day.

I was at a wedding last night. Yes, there was a cover band. They were fucking terrible. I walked out after three bars of train wreck.

Caught up with some family members I hadn't seen in years, watching the sunset, so that was nice.

DSO. They played 4/29/72 and then some. Fun show, met some good people.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Good but seen better gigs by them. The new songs just pale in comparison to the classic shit.
Bob Dylan. Dude's in his 80's and can still hang with the best. Incredible band he's got.
Black Crowes. 100 minutes of pure rawk. Thorn in My Pride brought the house down. Much better than expected but, man, they need to lose that drummer.

Up next: Sorry, Lucretia Dalt, The Cure, Porcupine Tree, Tedeschi Trucks Band.
,,Teenage Dreams, So Hard To Beat"

Saw two Stereolab shows last weekend: Philly & DC.
Rolled up with Modi & Barnsey and had a hell of a time.
What a cool band.

In addition to a ton of bands this past weekend at ACL Fest, I hit the ACL TV Taping of Pavement last night. I had never seen them, nor really ever listened to them. Some of it was really freaking good music, I must admit. Stephen Malkmus is a monster at creating textures, for sure.

Over the last 3-4 weeks, I've seen:

My Morning Jacket-was 6th row center, ate some fungus, it was an amazing show and reminded me how much I love seeing them live.

Australian Pink Floyd-same venue as above, this time in the seat directly in front of the one I had the week prior at MMJ.  I had no idea how good this would be going in...and I walked out of there VERY impressed.

North Mississippi All Stars-like MMJ, a band I had seen many times over the last 20 years or so, and this was a reminder of how much I love seeing them live.  Luther Dickinson is sofa king good at guitar.

Same.  I also miss the way his bass looked like a toy guitar on his massive body.

Billy String at Stubbs last night was epic. They were late coming on... and he apologized for it before even playing a note.

Honestly, Billy was super awkward onstage and it took a minute before he counted off the first song. Then there was more awkwardness between songs all night. Playing was super tight and got out there a bunch but between songs was awkward.

Finally, late second set Billy says, "I only ate one mushroom. I didn't think it'd do this to me."

Excellent!

That's awesome. That show's already up on the archive, so I'm grabbing it now for yardwork tunes.
I'd rather dwell in some dark holler where the sun refuses to shine, where the wild birds of heaven can't hear me when I whine.

I've found that the same strain (different batches) from the same producer can have varying levels of potency.
Good on him for diving in before taking the stage.
I'll have to give this show a listen today.
