That is what it takes sometimes to get people to understand cohabitation in an apartment complex.

Yeah - you have no idea!! I have friends who literally work for SXSW year round. That is their life. I cannot believe they cancelled the whole thing.

That's every hotel room in town. Every music venue small, medium, and large. Every restaurant. Every bar. Half of the movie theaters. Every rental car. Every service industry person. Every sound guy. Every door guy. Hundreds of EMTs and security professionals.

I don't think people really realize the scale of SXSW and its impact on Austin. I think they will realize it this year when it doesn't happen. It's unfathomable to me.

Also, if Jazzfest cancels for the first time in over 50 years I'm gonna lose my shit!

Apparently being a video conference specialist at a hospital is a high demand job during global pandemics.

I'm so busy at work bros. Help.

This whole thing is getting out of hand. Over half the events scheduled to take place in the hotel I account for are cancelled. Including the NCAA Big10 games. Our staff is being gutted in every other department because their hours are driven by room occupancy.

My hours and money are fine, but one of my employees put her two weeks in to go work for a different hotel (the same one that offered me the competing Accounting Manager position). My Director of Finance just let me know that since we are so low in occupancy for the foreseeable future that he is in no rush to find her replacement. The rest of us will just have to pick up the slack from not having her.

I definitely feel that. There is a significant chance that if imports/manufacturing stays the way it is, I'll have to close up my shop and lay people off... Definitely not excited at that prospect. I don't want to fuck over my people, so I'm gonna try and keep the store making money for as long as I can. But our supply chain is so constricted right now, every distributor is out of parts for all the common repairs. And the people that do have parts have shitty parts.

Goddammit. I mean, I know it's the right thing to do, and I've never even been, but ...

Also, I got the news overnight that a good friend in the restaurant community on the other side of Vermont, where I used to live w/ my ex & kid, was found dead in his apartment. Recently divorced, struggling professionally, died alone. Homeboy's mom found him after 4 or 5 days.

Dammit Fuck. Pouring one out for Chrisco today.

well my Grandma passed away on Tuesday and its been pretty rough talking to my Dad the past couple days. He is taking it pretty hard. It came on sudden within the past 2 months and I think was a type of kidney or intestinal cancer and she had signs of early Dementia, she was 89. My dad is up in Lake Placid handling the arrangements, I just hit 'Set A Reminder' on a FB event page for my Grandma's funeral webcast since that's the only way we can properly say goodbye with the times we live in, weird indeed.

Sorry to hear Sunrise and emay, this stuff sucks any time but especially these days.
Everything is connected, because it's all being created by this one consciousness. And we are tiny reflections of the mind that is creating the universe.

Sorry for your losses, emay and sunrise.

I learned yesterday that a buddy's father passed away due to covid.  Totally sucks.  Hadn't seen my buddy for a few years until we ran into each other at Mohegan Sun last summer.  It feels like it will be a long time until we see each other again.  Hopefully this is one of very few people I know that succumb to covid when this is all said and done...
