Bobafett

The events in our lives happen in a sequence in time, but in their significance to ourselves they find their own order; the continuous thread of revelation.

Today's guest, fellow Pauger, Barnesy, is on the show.

We talk about May '73 and some other bullshit too.
Enjoy!

Will be tuning in later today.

Hope you liked that one...
Here's a fresh one for ya:
Chris Funk plays guitar (and other stringed things) for The Decemberists. He's got a new solo album out called "The Painted Porch" (available here: https://chrisfunk.bandcamp.com) and he sat down (or stood up, I don't really know) to talk with me recently about his bands, his record, and being a Grateful Dead fan. Great guy.

The Barnsey one was dope.  Great episode.  It's been years since I revised Kezar or any of those so I went through the whole lot of them.  Great stuff, killer period.  The tracks you picked for the ep were bangers. Lol at BIO-Dittle.

Jumping over here RJ - Yeah, funk is a HUGE D&D fan and is very active in the local gaming scene (his studio is named Halfling Studio and he hosts gaming days there).

You're entitled to your opinion but I'm going to laugh at it.

I listened to the Barnesy and Bleeker episodes over the last few days while doing some driving.  Great stuff RJ!

Workingman's Dead turns 50 this month.
I sat down and talked with Buzz Poole, the man who wrote the book on Workingman's Dead. This week is side one of our two episode exploration of this record.

Flipping Workingman's Dead over to the B-side this week and continuing my chat with Buzz Poole.

Looking forward to hearing those two.

You guys,
I've slept on a couple eps here so here's the big update:

EP 72 features an interview with Bay Area guitar picker Jim Nunally. Jim plays in David Grisman's Bluegrass Experience, has produced a bunch of great bluegrass & folk records over the years and along with Nell Robinson has released a new album of great folk music. He and I had a great chat and then I spin a solid mix inspired by fact that we just passed 25 years since The Grateful Dead played shows.

https://brokedownpodcast.blogspot.com/2020/07/jim-nunally.html

Ep73 celebrates & explores Brent Mydland's tenure with The Grateful Dead. As we come up on the 30th anniversary of Brent's final show & passing, my friend Justin Bruce told me that he was heading into a deep dive on the Brent years so I sent along some suggestions, he took notes and we made a thing. After our conversation, I built a mix on the same topic and we're left with 2 hours of Brent Grateful Dead. Great songs and jams ensue.

EP 74 features a great great group, Trummors.
Their new album, Dropout City, is out this month and we had a nice chat about it and my obsession with their previous album, Headlands.

#253

Nick Mitchell Maiato, one of the guitarists and songwriters from One Eleven Heavy, found himself on lockdown at his home in Spain, thousands of miles from a canceled tour and studio dates. So he took the songs he'd written and made a record by himself. The album, Pino Carrasco, comes out on October 2. Nick and I talk all about that, being a gen x deadhead growing up in the UK, ands more. Plus new music from his One Eleven Heavy bandmate, James Toth and, of course, some Grateful Dead.
Dig it.

eta:
I'm really digging the results on the episode art lately. Thoughts?

Caravan2001

Nice, I've got some catching up to do!
