Set 1: Poor Heart, A Day in the Life > David Bowie, Billy Breathes > Taste That Surrounds, Bouncing Around the Room > Rift, Wolfman's Brother, Runaway Jim
Set 2: Timber (Jerry) > Kung[1], Mike's Song -> Rotation Jam[2] -> Mike's Song, My Long Journey Home[3], I'm Blue, I'm Lonesome[4], Strange Design > Weekapaug Groove, Harry Hood, Hello My Baby, Poor Heart[5]
Encore: Poor Heart Reprise, Fire
[1] Sung in a hymn-like fashion.
[2] First known Rotation Jam.
[3] Acoustic.
[4] Acoustic; Fishman mandolin solo.
[5] Slow arrangement.
Notes: The first set Poor Heart was the original version and the second set Poor Heart was the slow, shuffle version. The Poor Heart Reprise to start the encore was even slower, but only a few lines of the song were played. This Kung was performed differently than most; it was sung in a hymn-like fashion somewhat akin to Yerushalayim Shel Zahav. The jam out of Mike's Song featured the first known Rotation Jam, which also included a segment where each band member was playing one of Page's keyboards (although it was not Keyboard Cavalry). My Long Journey Home and I'm Blue I'm Lonesome were performed acoustic; the latter featured a mandolin solo from Fishman.
Looking forward to giving Halfway another listen. When I re-listened to Idea last night, didn't hold up as well as the first time through.
Bowie sounded really good through the stream, I'll be starting there first me thinks.
OT, but which Hartford do you guys like better?
Man, I missed out on the entire 2nd set LST. I had some unexpected errands to run. Did they take jam #line? Anybody know that approximate timings?

I only sort of remember b/c I was living in MD at the time, and I was disappointed that I had a couple days to kill before the next show.

I remember very little from that tour. It was such a whirlwind dose fest. In fact, it has all sort of just melted into one musical entity. I can't place jams on giving nights, or what venue came first on the tour, its like it was just one night of music, during which I clung dearly to my sanity and made it out alive.

Yup. Bits and fragments, and that's about it. I try to think back to the Cap Center show, and I remember . . . purple. And yellow. I remember my buddies and I were politely asked to leave the CCCC. That was probably 30-40 minutes after 12.11 ended :-D Stuff like that, but that's about it.

Intriguing. I'm tempted to see them at a live concert, but in general I don't like seeing music that I don't already know by heart. I assume they play the songs just like the records, with the same guitar solos and stuff?

In the short term, this is a tragic and disappointing truth. However, without this natural progression, would we be able to marvel at the wonderous vocal soliloquies of such fine animals as dolphins and that other thing that looks like a big fish but has a nose on top of its head and starred in star trek 4?
Fuckin great show.
First set fucking fire, straight through. The night Trey remembered how to play Bathtub Gin. Everything fucking smoked. Fluffhead Arrival was.... wow. MAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSIIIIIIVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEE Suzy glowwar. Thats where that energy came from.
Most insane energy ive seen them play with. Lots of goofy shit; Trey being cheered for drinking coffee.
Jamz: fuckin Chalkdust, Bitch, Jim, Fluff, and Gin solos/jams were outstanding. 2nd set: R'nR was aight, great; got spaced, and jammed nicely into Free which POUNDED. Number Line was WIERD. DWD'd w/ ending chorus. Jam got weird, but great... listen for it change directions from silence to groove to silence 'n whatnot; it immediately came down as the jam started and built up great.
They're turning all over the place, and Bowie I thought was PHENOMONEAL. Mike tore that wide open; best Bowie I've seen/ heard 3.0 yet. Gin was awesome.
Trey even managed to save Caspian with WICKED energy. they needa stop playing that. That, and numer line were flumbled a bit.
but man oh man... first set Tweeprise > Chalkdust, Funky Bitch > Jim.... wow. and PAy Jorgan in YA MAr at the end. ugh. Axilla seemed off a bit, i donno. But Trey was playing with fire in a ton of shit.

I can swear I've heard some of those riffs before, but I can't place 'em to save my life.

Evolution is a dire subject. Darwin himself stated, and I quote, "The longer a phish may swimmeth, the more inclined is he to break his own boundaries, at the expense of those dependent on him."
In the short term, this is a tragic and disappointing truth. However, without this natural progression, would we be able to marvel at the wonderous vocal soliloquies of such fine animals as dolphins and that other thing that looks like a big fish but has a nose on top of its head and starred in star trek 4?
I lol'd quite a bit at this whole discussion. Well done.
Anybody going to step up and do the setlist thread for tonight. I would but I'm going out with the family for an ice cream in a few.

Page's new song is sick, maybe my favorite new song of the year. Really darK, with jam potential
Yeah I like it! I hope it stays in rotation.
best page song in ages. i hope they get a little more comfortable with it. by which i mean trey.

Damn, I missed this on the LST last night, and I'm not nearly to this show yet in terms of catching up... just now rocking Hartford Night 2. Can't wait to hear this
song set.
I
Tweezer Reprise - Oh, those wacky guys.
Chalkdust - Okay, we're getting serious now. Get the crowd fired up.
Funky Bitch - Gain some steam. Devoid of any whale calling. Just good ole fashion blues guitar.
Runaway Jim - Was moving along nicely but the jam fizzled out about a bit at the end.
Yamar - Cool little breakdown jam ~6:00.
Sample - Standard
Axilla - Sub-par
Fluffhead - Not the best version, but still good to hear.
Gin - Some flaws in the beginning, but the jam is actually a lot of fun and had me up and movin'. Mike's inherent awesomeness doesn't hurt either.
Suzy - Pretty good version to close the set.
II
Rock & Roll - Getting pretty predictable. The "Saratoga Jam" actually got pretty cool, though.
Free - Free
BDt#L - Good tune. Solid version.
Halfway to the Moon - Cool tune.
Caspian - Next!
Joy - \m/ JOY \m/
Bowie - Would love to catch one of these on Friday. Haven't caught a Bowie in almost 10 years. This one is decent. Not great, but serviceable.
Show of Life - I assume the lyrics were written by a 15 year old. Maybe one of Trey's kids?
Squirming Coil - Solid version. Well played.
Character Zero - Mike actually does some cool stuff in there.
Tweezer Reprise - Hilarious Love Trey's scream at the end.
Highlights for me were the Gin and the R&R jam.
My bro picked me up a Pollock from this night as an early housewarming gift!
First print, too!

His friend "Paug" sounds like one h3TTy d00d
Love this Ya Mar.
R&R and the "Saratoga Jam"are very dope. The playing just sounded ON. I dig where this whole tune went.

Very cool.
It's true, I spoke to Aug's brother in the bathroom @ Finger Lakes and he confirmed this story.
So being at SPAC too Matt, how would you rank the Canandaigua show to either of those nights?
If I had to rank them...
SPAC 2
Canadags
SPAC 1
Cool, just wondering.
SPAC2 would definitely top my list of shows I've seen in 3.0
Official Video:
Phish - 6/19/10 "Show Of Life" (http://vimeo.com/12995593)
This show did not disappoint on playback today. One of the better first sets of the tour, imo... very solid playing throughout.
Add in a pretty sweet R&R jam and probably the best Bowie of 3.0 and you've got some win!
Yeah man.... i was so bummed when they brought it down with Ya Mar; that first set was on its way to epic proportions.
Imagine if they slotted a fuckin like....46 Days instead of Ya Mar. I love Ya Mar, and it was played great, but it totally blueballed all the fucking insane energy that that Tweeprise > Chalkdust, Funky Bitch > Runaway Jim created. That 4-song run of non-jammers rivals the Albany Seven Below > Ghost for favorite "string" of Phish songs i've seen... fucking unreal.
Btw, I really like the end of this Rock and Roll.... that shit Trey does is way cool.
Nice find RJ. I don't watch many vids due to time constraints, but that Show Of Life is choice. Would love to see more of that show in that format...
