Quote"If we get a good script we'll do it. I don't think any of us feel we need to for our own careers or anything, but if people wants to see it we'll try to give it to them. But only if it's good." "There's a real script being written. We wrote a story -Ivan Reitman, Dan Aykroyd and I are consulting. (Bill) Murray said he'd do it. Ernie Hudson is in. Almost everyone said they're be in. Rick Moranis has laid low in the show business for the last few years. It's all about the quality. We don't want to destroy a franchise that everyone loves with a bad sequel."
I was just reading this interview with Harold Ramis, and I had no idea that they had started writing an actual script, and that they're asking everyone from the original cast if they'd be interested in doing it.
I'm not sure what I think. It could be cool, but then again...it could be shit. What do you guys say?
I just watched the 1 and 2 today.
If the script isn't worse than #2, I'll watch.
Sigourney Weaver has already said that she will not sign up for #3.
They weren't worried about destroying the franchise with the Saturday morning cartoon, toys, etc, why would they worry about this?
Anyway, I'd be down with it.
Yeah I believe they are getting ready to shoot it. Isn't Apatow confirmed as the director? Dunno how I feel about that.

--no, they did that with the second movie.
teh fact that the video game was released with moderate to good reviews, and a decent amount of fanfare might have been a small attempt to feel out the public's interest in the series. also the fact that every single character in teh game was voice acted bt the original cast member. so in other words, everyone-minus weaver- is already sold on the project, and if you think about it they could all use the work... i cant think of any significant films that any of them have been ove the last few years.

From what I read elsewhere (I'll try and find the link) Ivan Reitman, who directed the first one, is on board.
EDIT: According to this article it seems to be between Reitman and Ramis

therein lies the rub..
edit: if he isn't directing, he's at least had a hand in the writing..

yep
that said, I'd probably go see it.
Harold Ramis is one of the funniest guys on the planet.
Bill Murray's wiki page has a 2012 release date.
Also, Alyssa Milano or Eliza Dushku as female cadet 'busters.
I like Ghostbusters 2
I didn't dislike it, just thought it didn't approach the original.

ruin the 'franchise'? already taken care of.
the second movie was awful.
i'll be surprised if number 3 isn't even worse.

This rumor circulated recently and iirc, Milano claimed to know absolutely nothing about it.

I'm with Dan. #2 wasn't terribly bad.
It did lack some of the clever double entendre stuff like the keymaster & gatekeeper. It also had a slow start as they tried almost too hard to explain away the time between the films.
My little kid love it, though, and isn't this stuff really for kids?
GB2, is aight, it's kinda weak in comparison but there was just no way it was ever going to come close to the original.
The Bobby Brown song from it rules though.

its' a kids movie... walk into it thinking that, and you just might enjoy it more than you think...
i'd watch #3.

umm - nope
btw Tex Avery (bugs bunny) said they weren't making that to amuse kids - they were just amusing themselves.
Make it, I'll watch it.

I've been wanting to play the new ghostbusters game that was written by Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray and Harold Remis and they do the voices also. So it's kinda like a Ghostbusters 3.
I voted no, but I would definitely watch it. After thinking about it, I suppose my real answer would be, "If they do it right". Unfortunately, that means something different to me, you, and those writing/making/directing the movie. To me, it's keeping the dumbass dirty humor and cockiness of Venkman without it being a couple of cheesy ass lines. The special effects should have a classic look, and more POV shots so it doesn't look over-produced. The actors also shouldn't be overmakeuped and it can't be this dumb nostalgic act to recapture the magic of the original. The actors also can't overact and become a caracature of themselves (a problem in sequels, IMO.) Just develop each character's style a bit, have a concise story-line with a good bit of comic relief segments, and let there be improv. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis should be able to pull it off. The 4th could really even be a new guy, it's the original core that I'm really interested in. However, if they want to develop Zeddemore, I'm for it... Just keep it real

They def. gave Zeddemore a bit more to work with in #2
I've heard from a fairly reliable source that they wanted to do it entirely in CGI, which IMO takes something away from it, as NYC was almost as important a character as any of the actual actors in the film.

I would prefer they do it in Cartoon style. But "The REAL Ghostbusters" style as opposed to the other sucky cartoon

This part kind of cracked me up. Harold Ramis is obviously being sarcastic/kidding around, but it still made me laugh. Not exactly a ringing endorsement there.
QuoteEverywhere I went, people were asking about it. I thought, why not? Why can't there be a Ghostbusters 3? I have to remind people that they didn't like Ghostbusters 2 very much. But they still seem to want a third one.

HELL YEAH!!!
Really? ser. tho.......Really?
Bad news everyone.
This is now going to be a reboot and I already have low hopes for it.
After Harold Ramis passed away and Ivan Reitman left as director. It has now been taken over by Paul Feig and he is turning it into an all-female ghostbusters and since he casts Mellisa McCarthy in every movie he makes, there's a very good chance, I'd guess 99%, that she'll be one of the leads. And I just plain don't like her.

Nope
I'm not interested in a reboot of any kind.
This will have to get amazing reviews for me to give a shit.
Glad I took my kids to see the original in the theater a few weeks back.
wtf
Max Landis (screenwriter, director and son of John Landis) posted a pic from a page in his Ghostbusters3 script... I wish it was happening.

His vision for this scene was Jonah Hill (as Becker) & Ernie Hudson

My thoughts exactly. If it gets universal praise, then, perhaps, I'll watch.
Honestly, I started to lose hope in this project when Bill Murray said he was out. And, of course, when Harold passed I lost all interest. You can't do a Ghostbusters sequel with only Ray and Winston. I mean, you can, but ...
