I guess I do actually understand politics perfectly and it's very unfortunate...

Fuck that guy, but fuck the other guy more.

Fuck the whole system.

My problem with him isn't even the politics.  He's just a weak candidate.  Obama is, and always was, a centrist.  But he was one hell of a candidate.  Damn near unstoppable because of the way he drew you in and made you believe.  Joe Biden is basically the opposite of that.

I mean, we're up against a demented ding bat and we go and nominate one of our own?

change happens incrementally

If you remember, Obama had a very difficult time getting ACA passed with a majority in the House and a Supermajority in the Senate.
Clinton started with a Dem majority in both houses, and "HillaryCare" went down in smoke.
I understand those who say that Biden isn't progressive enough, not bold enough, etc. Forget the fact that imo Biden has a better chance of winning than Sanders does. Even if Sanders were to win, the chance of pushing a very progressive agenda through is kinda small.
Biden is NOT more of the same as Trump. He respects the constitution. He knows how to compromise (contrary to popular belief, that is not a dirty word, that is how you get shit done). He wn't lied by division.
Lke PG said, he will appoint better judges, maintain and hopefully improve ACA. Single payer may be better, but it's a long way off from being acceptable in the US, and there are many issues that will need to be ironed out.

Most important is that we have to get Trump out.

Wisdom from Steve here.
Is this still Wombat?

Yesterday was a perfect summary for Trump
1-ignored CDC document on safely reopening the country
2- drops charges against Flynn, who pleaded guilty twice

There's no election coming, right?

Create virus/COVID-19 hysteria > kill millions > cancel election > consolidate power ...

Jared made some offhand comment about election delays the other day. He quickly had to walk it back as something that he has not authority over nor information about.
Constitutionally, the president doesn't have any control over the general election. The states are supposed to select electors in November. That's something that tRUMP cannot stop.

But... We'll see.

I stumbled upon this article the other day and found it extremely insightful as to the state of affairs in US politics.
Everything is connected, because it's all being created by this one consciousness. And we are tiny reflections of the mind that is creating the universe.

Meh - while this opinion rings true on many levels, the entire "Deep State" argument and language implies there is some organized cabal running the show and that's simply not the case. There is no structure to the balance of power... just weight. It's all Ayn Rand's Objectivism run amok. Everyone in power rallying toward their own self-interest with abandon.

Still, if we take a step back and look at the realities of our two-party system, we must admit that it is only marginally better than the one-party systems of Russia and China. That's why they laugh at us and our high-and-mighty attitudes toward the world. We cling to this illusion of self-rule when, in fact, we are ruled almost as clearly as those we ridicule as non-democratic. It's why the Democratic Party apparatus rallied all of its resources to defeat Bernie despite the public's affinity toward him.

agree with PG about the deep state. On many levels, we are run by the corporations, but I don't think it's the organized, peril. What we are really run by is money. The author's paranoia turns me off.

The following article by Reich rings truer to me. That said, I don't think Warren or Sanders could have beat Trump. Sanders is a "socialist"which in many peoples eye's is almost as bad or worse than having brown skin or not worshiping their personal version of deity. And, some of his ideas are a bit "out there" for America, although stanard in Europe. Why we can't have the same social net here as they Europeans do is beyond me. Baby steps. For some reason people couldn't get behind Warren. Maybe cause she's female, maybe because of the Navajo thing, I don't know.

Very well said!

FTR, I have a hard time with the idea of a deep state and definitely do not subscribe to the belief it is an organized group of individuals, I do believe rich dudes look out for themselves and each other..
I found the article provoked a different viewpoint for me on what could be happening behind the scenes.

And no one saw that coming...

It's still amazing to me how openly and blatant corrupt he is, and 40 million people won't pull their head out of the sand...

America is pathetic

I'm thinking Trump commuting Roger Stone's sentence.
