I've been coming to where I am from the get go
Find that I can groove with the beat when I let go
So put your worries on hold
Get up and groove with the rhythm in your soul

The events in our lives happen in a sequence in time, but in their significance to ourselves they find their own order; the continuous thread of revelation.

That makes me want to drop acid again.  Also makes me wish I were deaf.

Exciting news for many suffering from depression with no help in sight.

QuoteIn 2020, Health Canada has approved the use of psilocybin-containing mushrooms to relieve depression and anxiety in patients facing terminal illnesses, and one patient without a terminal diagnosis.

bitcoins not so secret

http://www.wired.com/2015/01/prosecutors-trace-13-4-million-bitcoins-silk-road-ulbrichts-laptop/

Prosecutors Trace $13.4M in Bitcoins From the Silk Road to Ulbricht's Laptop

If anyone still believes that bitcoin is magically anonymous internet money, the US government just offered what may be the clearest demonstration yet that it's not. A courtroom PowerPoint presentation traced hundreds of thousands of bitcoins from the Silk Road anonymous marketplace for drugs directly to the personal computer of Ross Ulbricht, the 30-year-old accused of running that contraband bazaar.

Bumping this because depending on how many hundreds of thousands of bitcoin that guy had, they would be worth tens of billions of dollars today

:-o :-o :-o :-o :-o

Also, on a side note, I dropped $500 on some dogecoin earlier today

The energy cost of blockchain based currencies and other NFTs is staggering.

Agree that this is less than ideal, but what is the environmental/energy cost of traditional currency, printing money, keeping it in circulation, etc.?

I read this week that current bitcoin energy draw equals the current solar power capacity. Reports last year compared it to the output of 7 nuclear power plants. This draw isn't one time, it only increases over time. That power is necessary for it to simply exist. I've yet to see any argument for these currencies that justifies this other than "I'm rich now" and anyone who tries to use that defense is definitely an asshole.
