I'm not a crypto-evangelist (nor am I as crypto-rich as I wish I was), but one dearly held argument for them focuses on their decentralized, nongovernmental nature, which many people like as representing a sort of "stick it to the man" ethos, but also as a kind of populist insulation against govt manipulation and malfeasance.
Is this still Wombat?

Sounds good if it wasn't literally accelerating to the destruction of the planet.

No surprise that crypto-currency is so popular with libertarians.

Beavers are at it again, and not just the mail

I had no idea that beaver chewing was uniquely Canadian; let alone that it was a problem.

But, I don't think our fans do happily lap it up, I think they go online and talk about how it was a bad show.

Good news for all you druggies:  https://www.sciencealert.com/a-small-amount-of-laughing-gas-could-be-a-future-therapy-for-treating-depression

QuotePsychoactive drugs, historically taken at parties, are increasingly looking to be suitable tools for treating mental illness.

In phase III clinical trials, MDMA has emerged as a highly effective treatment for post traumatic stress disorder, and in recent studies, oral ketamine has been found to significantly lower suicidal ideation.

Nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, is now joining the ranks. A new trial on 24 participants in the United States has found a low dose of this gas can relieve symptoms of depression otherwise resistant to current drugs.

Even better, the benefits appear to last for several weeks and come with very few side effects.

https://pitchfork.com/news/nirvana-sued-by-baby-from-nevermind-album-artwork-for-child-pornography/amp/

QuoteNirvana's surviving members and the estate of Kurt Cobain have been sued by Spencer Elden, who appeared as a baby on the cover of 1991's Nevermind. Elden claims the band violated federal child pornography statutes and argues child sexual exploitation, TMZ reports and documents viewed by Pitchfork confirm. Pitchfork has reached out to Nirvana's representatives for comment.

In a lawsuit that also named photographer Kirk Weddle and the labels behind the album's release, Elden claims he has suffered "lifelong damages" and says his legal guardians never signed a release "authorizing the use of any images of Spencer or of his likeness, and certainly not of commercial child pornography depicting him." He's also suing for distribution of private sexually explicit materials, negligence, and what's described as a "sex trafficking venture" where Elden "was forced to engage in commercial sexual acts while under the age of 18 years old."

Elden is seeking damages, attorney fees, an injunction to prohibit all parties "from continuing to engage in the unlawful acts and practices described herein," and a trial by jury.

I wonder what the naked kids on Houses of The Holy, or the nude tween on Blind Faith, have to say about this?
