QuotePhish will perform an exclusive concert for listeners of their SiriusXM channel, Phish Radio, on Tuesday, December 3 at The Met in Philadelphia, PA.SiriusXM subscribers will have numerous opportunities to win a pair of tickets to this show, including on-air on Phish Radio, online at SiriusXM.com/Phish (to enter, see Official Rules for complete details atSiriusXM.com/Phish), via e-mail invitation sent to qualified subscribers who have opted in to receiving email from SiriusXM and who have registered their music interests at SiriusXM.com/perks.
The show will mark the smallest venue Phish has played in nearly 20 years and will be broadcast live.
But I want to talk about some tangential elements to this. I'm wondering who will get in to this and who is even qualified to attempt to get in....
So let's start with a poll!
This will be a hard ticket, but probably a pretty tame show.
I thought I read that you had to have been an active Sirius subscriber for a year or something to that effect.
And yes, they will play it safe but I would enjoy the hell out of it.
I've been a subscriber since 2004. I hope 15 years of loyalty pays off somehow!! Doubt they will look at that but if they do, I have to be one of the longer term subscribers. I entered the sweepstakes and am trying other avenues as well. If I get a ticket, I will go, but if I am being honest with myself, it would cost me $800 and 8 hour flight to get there (no directs PDX-Philly). It would cost me $800 and 8 hours to fly to Pittsburgh. I'm fairly confident Pittsburgh will be the better show. I just feel like these specialty shows lend themselves to festival (read: safe) sets. I don't think the Met will get a 25 min Crosseyed. But, if I win by some miracle, I'm there, I guess.
I don't have an account but my parents do so I'll at least try there.
I hit my friend up who works for Phish..... she'll get a ticket but got a hard NO on getting any extras for friends. Not surprised but still... damn!
So the last show this small would have to be Roseland Ballroom, right? What about previous to that?
Phish doesn't usually blow it up in these situations, just sayin.

It looks like this show is even smaller in 98. Capacity
1,315, not "formally" announced though.10/15/98
THE FILLMORE
San Francisco, CA
SET 1: Ghost -> Water in the Sky, Wolfman's Brother, Gumbo, David Bowie, Brian and Robert, Reba[1] > Character Zero
SET 2: My Soul > Chalk Dust Torture, Roggae, The Moma Dance, Wading in the Velvet Sea > Prince Caspian > Frankie Says, Birds of a Feather, Lawn Boy, Harry Hood
ENCORE: Dirt, Limb By Limb[1] No whistling.
This "under the radar" show was never formally announced by Phish. San Francisco radio station KFOG leaked word of an upcoming "surprise announcement" two weeks before the show, telling Phish fans to tune in on Saturday morning for details. The 11:00 a.m. announcement was that tickets would be sold at noon the vacant Pier 32, prompting a mad rush of fans to the waterfront. Of the several thousand who arrived, roughly four hundred lucky people were able to buy vouchers entitling them to a pair of tickets. Prior to Brian and Robert, Trey said that Fish used to hate the yellow light and that Fish used to have a list of things that he hated, adding that every time they found out something Fish hated, they'd always do it (prompting Page to tease HYHU, which Fish also hates). Fish added that he hated the vowel "ooo" (the crowd responded with "ooo" noises). Trey said the only way to overcome something you hate was to face it head on. Trey then had Chris Kuroda shine a yellow light on Fish for Brian and Robert. Reba did not have the whistling ending. Hood contained a tease of Aaron Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man. After the show, some fans were given a poster (later for sale from Phish Dry Goods) and a bumper sticker (saying: "We've just come from Phish at the Fillmore. It was nice.").

I don't think TV tapings count. I was there for that though and it was good, but again, kinda boring too. Cool experience but no replay value. And that Fillmore show was meh, as was Roseland 2000. So, these things never turn out as well musically but they are all great experiences in the moment for sure. I think the last Letterman taping was super small, but I wouldn't count that either. All I know is I am stoked to finally get some Phish content on Stern!!

Super small "special" shows. Roseland, Fillmore, Flynn etc.
Hell, even the Fox in St Louis in 09 was pretty much a bust.

Beyond the best Brian and Robert, yes. That said, it was a gorgeous theatre and I am glad I went for that fact (and it was my 20th year phishaversary). That said, it was a long way to travel and a lot of money for a mediocre show but that's how it goes sometimes. Also, Heath and I got to drink beer with PlayItLeo out of toilet plungers so that was special too. I guess.
Lol

The issue with this equation is that you view Ghosts of the Forest as a negative value, whereas some of us view it as highly positive. That variance will lead to wildly different products.

Agreed. I'm more in the GOTF or GTFO camp. I just like new material. Granted, some of the GOTF stuff is a lot better than others for sure. But there is some good/great material there.

If GOTF was a negative value in the original equation, then the product would be a positive, i.e. a negative times a negative equals a positive. :end math nerd rant:

I actually like that Fillmore 98 show. And yeah, the Japan stuff.... that's no question.
However, if you think this show is going to be something like Runaway Jim -> Catapult -> McGrupp, Lifeboy, Tube -> Reprise, Fee, Dinner and a Movie, Gotta Jibboo -> Weekapaug -> Santos you've got another thing coming.
Still will be fun though. Wish I could go.

I probably had the most fun at 6/13 Club Quattro which was the smallest and essentially a bar show, but the next night 6/14 which is the Fukuoka show they released on LP gets the most play over here by a long shot.

Don't forget Japan 2000. Nearly every show under 1000 and the 6/13 show was 400 tops.
Damn. Didn't know they were that small. What show was your personal fav on that run?
I probably had the most fun at 6/13 Club Quattro which was the smallest and essentially a bar show, but the next night 6/14 which is the Fukuoka show they released on LP gets the most play over here by a long shot.
If only there were some place that folks could hear you talk extensively about that tour.
I feel a 20th anniversary chat in the works.

I think they're keeping me on ice for the 30th year Amy's Farm retrospective in 2021...even though I am available for the 20th Year Big Cypress Bonanza
So I know y'all are semi normal-ish folk who realize that getting in the met is a fruitless effort with little to no pay off. And of course, you're all correct. It's probably gonna be some lame show...... With that being said....
how do I get in? Like... seriously. Have any of y'all been to the met? I will do ridiculous things to get into this show. Any ideas? I've had friends scale the unfinished structure of MSG to get into the show. And they've succeeded.... cops chasing them and all. I just am not satisfied with spending a DAY OFF on Phish tour not trying to get into this show. I need in. Help. Me.
Scotty, if by some grace of God I get a pair of tickets through the XM lottery you'll be my first call.

Yeah, mine's pretty good too. We drove and drove down a deserted road in the dark and came upon some hillbilly kid sitting on top of a fence (the gate). He asked us if we had any weed, which we did, so we gave him a nug and preceded in to park the RVs and check out the soundcheck. Good times!

Currently at $1600 for two tickets, but it is tax deductible so....
Just saw that. Up past $6K now...
Ari said on a twitter thread that was discussing the lag between the app and the car that they are getting about 25K calls every time they do a drop. Ugh. Thy have tried to level the playing field somehow but if you are listening on the app and a good 4 minutes behind the feed in the car, you're never getting through on the phone. I have it in the car but since the drops are almost always in the 7AM hour, I'm at home on the app. FML

Yeah not cool, rather than supporting charity, if people are gonna drop that kind of cash on Phish the money should go to CID!

Nope. I've seen that some notifications have gone out, though.
Im hearing that the majority of ticket winners so far are Philly area locals....
In unrelated news, I'm moving to Philly! :wtu:

https://www.jambase.com/article/siriusxm-free-listening-period-phish
QuoteSiriusXM started a "free listening" period in which inactive satellite radios are turned back on and non-subscribers can hear SiriusXM via their phone, in the car or through their computers all without using a credit card. The promotion runs through December 3 at 11:59 p.m., which means non-subscribers can listen to Phish's upcoming SiriusXM concert at The Met live from Philadelphia via Phish Radio (Channel 29).
Phish's invitation-only performance at The Met on December 3 marks the smallest venue the quartet has played in nearly 20 years. The concert will be broadcast live via Phish Radio at 7:30 p.m. ET. A pre-show begins at 6 p.m. ET.
For those on desktop and Android, take advantage of the "free listening" period by clicking on this link and the player will start. iOS users should select "Get Started" and then tomorrow morning listeners will be prompted to set up a free 14-day trial. No credit card will be required.
Getting pretty f'n psyched! Made it to Philly today, so nothing left to do but wait for the fun!
I'm excited just to see the scene in general, outside and inside of the venue. Curious if peeps will be scoring wristbands at all. Seems tough....

This one won't be on livephish - SXM owns the broadcast, etc. for it. So.... keep your eyes out for a recording of the broadcast and post it here for us! Thanks, all.
