I figured its about time to start a thread since games start next week.
How does everybody anticipate the new playoff system to work? I'm excited to see how it all unfolds.
Me too. No chance of an SEC champion. People will shitting themselves come November-December.
No chance? Wouldn't the playoffs only increase the chance?

I think they're all gonna beat up on each other. No one is truly elite like some of the recent teams of the SEC. It probably won't happen, but I won't be shocked if there isn't an SEC team in the playoffs this year.

I think I understand where you're going here. Alabama and LSU (a few of the recent years) were true powerhouses. (I don't think Auburn last year is one of them) The playing field seems to have leveled a little bit in the SEC. I think the Pac12 has a lot of strength this year. Also, Florida State definitely has a shot of making it. Braxton Miller's injury was also huge. Ohio State would have been salty.
I will go ahead and say that I think OU is overrated. Definitely comes down to QB play and our secondary. I think the defense will be raw, I can't wait to watch them play. DGB getting approved will be huge if it happens and really change our offense. I think we're top 15 but not #4. With that being said, I am beyond pumped. Season tickets already purchased.

I really just want to watch my father-in-law's head explode. :samurai:
Is it really that far fetched though? 5 power conferences, 4 bids.
Bama shall be considered a contender until results dictate otherwise. The West also seems to be good for a surprise team or two in recent years. The ongoing relative weakness of Georgia and Florida bodes well for South Carolina, who runs out a new starting QB this year and always seems to have one boneheaded loss that keeps them out of the division title.
But, given the various scenarios in play I see the SEC being represented as being still quite likely, which means in a playoff there's a solid chance of a championship.
I'm so ready for this year. I hope my bulldogs can come out firing and I hope dak Prescott has another great year as a tru leader.
And fuck those black bears of oxford!

My wife is fired up for this year as well. I'm not gonna say Top 10 finish or anything, but after watching this team steadily improve over the last few years, I think for the first time in a while there is reason for optimism in Oxford, MS this season. They will play well and surprise a few teams this year. If Wallace (and this is a BIG if) can play reasonably well and cut down on the gunslinger mentality, they could make some serious noise in the SEC west this year.

My bro and I went to the egg bowl last year. One of the best games I've seen in person. Bo Wallace belongs in Sunnyvale trailer park.
I love when Texas gets beat like that. How's Austin feeling this week, PG? (you aren't a texas fan are you?)
i think this is UO's year... with mariota back and the defense strong as well, i think we could do it.
especially after beating the mich st silly in the 2nd half last weekend.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I think UO is the legitimate #1 right now. That second half of football was quite impressive. I'm a strong component of the "we have no idea who is #1 cause its only week 2" philosophy...but.. If I were to put money on somebody it would be Oregon.
i would agree...
the whole college football this has always been fucked. when you have a preseason #1 that struggles all year, yet still wins ... and yet stays #1 when other teams are clearly better... it is annoying.
also, the whole thing that losing early is better than losing late ... annoying!
all that said, after 2 weeks, Oregon looks damn good!

I don't think FSU and Alabama are as good as the polls say, imagine that!!! I also think that OU has the potential to be top5 but we haven't played anybody of true talent yet. Big12 play starts this week against WVU.
I still think Oregon is the best looking team right now.

Mullens(sp?) almost blew that game last night. I didn't understand why he elected to go for it instead of kicking the field goal on 4th and 1 there at the end of the game. Instead, he went for it, got stuffed, and nearly had a heart attack.

Yeah...cousin Eddie does some bonehead shit...that call was one of em. However, he has molded Prescott into a true leader, as was evident last night. He fires everyone up, encourages em, owns up to mistakes, and we came out of the gates ready to go, something we have missed during mullens tenure.

Yeah, as was pointed out last night, Prescott is a regular Tim Tebow. That insult aside, I was very impressed with that kid.
Its hard to agree with but that 4th and 1 call in the FSU/Clemson game was a tough one to make.. You're on the road in a very hostile environment against a very good team that has a better kicker than you. Go for the win.. However, they were down a QB on the other side of the ball.
I really wish Clemson would have won.
Boomer Sooner!!
:crazy:BAM! Best sports weekend of the year! Already got those ducks shot down last night, now for an a&m defeat and a Bama loss! HAILSTATE!
Yessir! :samurai:
And the curse of me seeing a show at the North Charleston Coliseum on the night South Carolina plays Kentucky lives on.
I hate football. :frustrated:
However, I will say that the best weekend of the year is upon us...
This has been a crazy year of college football. Antelope's wife's team is doing good (did I get that right?) I hate the SEC! Looks like my Big12 is in some serious long-term trouble. I'm getting nervous about Kansas State this weekend, we've looked awful the last two weeks and Snyder is one of the best in the game.
I'm lovin it so far, but my bulldogs better keep bringing it. I mentioned above how we have had problems starting strong. I feel like we've done that but need to work on a continual push for a full game. Ole miss is lookin good too. I pull for my Mississippi first, bulldogs when we meet in the egg bowl! :wtu:

Yeah, you're having a heck of a year. Hell the whole state is.
So my boy Marcus Mariota apparently got a speeding ticket last weekend for going 80 in a 55.
I didn't know the law applied when you're on foot.

what is this KOLL-ej fut-BOL you people speak of :-(
hey Hokies almost bowl eligible baby!
Bedlam this weekend!!! :beers:
So given the way these bowl games have played out, on a scale of 1-10, how overrated would you say the SEC is?
I'd say a 7... Funny how the West has spared/

Nice man! I went to see the alabama-Msu game a few weeks ago. Have fun and enjoy those cowbells.
Chad Kelly is a joke!
Ahem.......who's a joke?
Was an ugly game for my side! Congrats to the rebel black bear men

Great championship game tonight!

I've been dragging all day but glad I didn't turn it off after Georgia went up 20-7 late in 3rd qtr (like I should have). Great game.
Also, the question to the Jeopardy answer above is actually "Who is any team Andy Reid is coaching?"
In addition to hating Alabama like all reasonable people do, I feel a little extra bad today for my UGA-alum sister and bro-in-law. Woulda been nice to celebrate a family championship, divisional rivalry be damned.
Headed to the Bama-Louisville game tonight. Very lucky to have received free tix for the family! :)
Nice. Have fun

It's actually a cool story. But in general, I agree.
Some pretty awesome games today. I know no one cares about UCF, but we went to the game and had a blast. Can't beleive Bama and UCF both came back to win these games.

Oh man, I disagree. I loved living across the street from the stadium in Norman. OU hasn't won a national title since 2000 but we've remained relevant with 12 conference championships and 3 bids to the college football playoff in 4 years.
Pumped for these games today!
IMO this is embarrassing for college football. This is the best they have to offer? Notre Dame, LOL
Proof Georgia should be playing today.
Yeah it's a letdown. I don't think the later game will be close, but I hope im wrong. Rammer jammer yellow hammer.
Hell, UCF would've given Clemson a better game than that
Bump! #5 Iowa visiting my Terps tonight!
