Absolutely crushed it last night. Some cool extras in a couple songs first set was nice and the second half speaks for itself. Can't wait for more.

I use records for that and don't have to justify it to my friends.

Actually wasn't an Esther tease.....If you listen to Mike, he starts the McGrupp bass line and then they go in to the Esther riff, and that combo is actually the instrumental that plays beneath the narration for the OG Gaemhenge on Trey's thesis tape.  Talk about a ser bust out!!!!!!!

You haven't lived until you've had a robot shart in your ear and followed along in the live setlist thread while it happens.

I can't take the credit.  People were going back and forth on twitter about it.  I knew it was McGrupp and Esther when I was watching the stream but I didn't put two and two together that it was from TMWSIY.  Pretty amazing.  Tom Marshall even said the name of it, but I couldn't tell if he was kidding or not.

Just finished Tweezer all the way through, hfs!  That my friends is Phish music at its finest.  Its an updated version for sure, after Ebeneezer instead of Fishman's Careful with that Axe style vocal screams we get his samples, putting a new twist on it.  You could tell they were listening to each other, trying to let go as much as possible.  Definitely heard Mike's Gamehendge narration bass line at 15:14 on the sbd.  A foreshadow perhaps?  Also heard some Manteca style jamming near 17:07.  This jam was constantly weaving, morphing.  Like the previous night's Chalk Dust, Mike and Fishman were pushing the jam, they all were.  Page sounded extra trippy, Trey simply wouldn't let the jam die.  Supa!

That's totally what it is though, I heard it pretty much off the bat.
What a sick tease, goosebumps!

I enjoyed this show so much I'm almost scared to relisten to it. The execution, the narrative coherence, the improvisational gusto, the mirth, the next-level Kuroda, the energy, the pure joy and satisfaction of an experience that a week prior I didn't even know was in the cards for me and that, as of only hours and even moments before the show (the rain!), was still getting unexpected hurdles thrown in its way.

I made a comment to my wife earlier in the week about current-day Phish being more or less a predictable, known quantity. Like, it's great stuff, lots of fun, best thing going, but this isn't 1995 and they aren't young men moving at a mile a minute anymore. I remember being quasi-disillusioned (it didn't last long) over this realization back in 2011. Well, this Alpharetta show completely put me in my place, and goddamn if being surprised and humbled by Phish (yet again) isn't one of the true pleasures in life.
Is this still Wombat?

I've been coming to where I am from the get go
Find that I can groove with the beat when I let go
So put your worries on hold
Get up and groove with the rhythm in your soul

Thanks PG, listened to the aud this morning and stoked to see it in all it's glory.
