Due to the ongoing pandemic, we sadly have made the difficult decision to reschedule Phish?€™s entire 2020 summer tour, now moving to the summer of 2021. We?€™ve been as excited as ever to play music for you all, and are so heartbroken to postpone these dates. The health and well-being of Phish fans, our touring crew, and the communities in which the band plays is our top concern. The rescheduled dates are below. The new dates for the Atlanta shows will be announced very soon.A few nuts and bolts: All tickets and travel packages will be automatically honored for the rescheduled dates. However, full refunds are available at the point of purchase as well. Please note: If you purchased from an authorized ticket sales channel (Ticketmaster, Phish Tickets, CID or venue websites) you will have until May 31st to request a refund. These ticketing partners will be contacting all buyers shortly with further instructions. When new dates are announced for Atlanta, the deadline for ticket refunds for those shows will be extended.Thank you for your understanding. We?€™re all in this together.
Stay healthy and safe and we can?€™t wait to see you real soon.

So...am I holding tickets to the next phish show...eugene 2021?
I am going to put in for a refund probably. A year and a half from now with a lot of uncertainty in between, Ill just take my money back. I assume they will have a new allotment to distribute via lotto again or put on public on sale next fall/winter, if things are looking better.
Every single person here has a hot tub in there room, come'on!
How far we've fallen in just a few short weeks.
I'm holding on to my tickets. Got lawns through PTBM, and that's what I wanted. No need to enter the lottery again and end up with some more expensive, but shitty, Pav seats.
Deer Creek 2021, baby!!!
Or 2022, more likely. :|
Welp, Gorge on my birthday in 2021?
That would be OK with me.

Count me in.
Anybody want to buy Gorge box tix :|
Lol. It's a cluster for me, but I'm still stoked. Going to be awesome. If Eugene is the first live Phish show in 18 months, Matt Court is going to be reduced to rubble.
Want to get some opinions here.
Highly unlikely any of this happens this summer, do you think they will move it again to 2022 or scrap this and re draft a new tour?
Crazy to think of the demand if they came back at a 10k person arena for first shows in like 2 years after this.
I?ve been thinking about the increase in ticket demand whenever they start back. The scalpers and resale sites are hoping to hit the jackpot I?m sure.
I don?t see it happening this summer, but maybe they could do a longer MSG/large arena/Vegas multi week stand in the fall?
Im holding out hope that my shroom season kicks off in full force and I can get a large stash of chocolate and blue honey ready for the market.
I?ve also purchased a 36inch paella pan and burner with the hope of filling a need in the lot scene with top quality southern inspired lot food, like my black eyed pea falafel with homminus on garlic naan or pulled pork burrito wrap with chow chow and pickled okra.
People are definitely going to call it 4.0 when they return.... :sbw: :|

Too bad Canadians will get the shaft on this tour.
I know its not Phish, but the Oysterhead shows in April 2021 (previously 2020) were just cancelled, no rescheduled dates.
Also, Trey referred to the new Languedoc as the '4.0 guitar' on his instagram.

General COVID talk alert, but germane.
What will be the determining factor(s), for Phish tour and other snatches of normalcy? Infections? Deaths? ICU beds? (Remember "flatten the curve"?)
Or, perhaps, vaccine availability? We're already finding out that not everyone who's in the early vax groups is availing themselves. I think I heard something about a 50% opt-in rate among long-term-care employees somewhere. Here in South Cack, the governor is setting deadlines and moving up start dates in response to what appears to be lower-than-expected signups, and we can't just have vaccine sitting around.
If substantial chunks of the population simply opt not to get vaccinated, and this is having an impact on stats, at a certain point you have to say that the rest of us are getting back to business and it's caveat emptor. Right?

Goddammit I think I just became a religious "Go in early" concert-goer.
Yeah, sure hope I am wrong, but sadly, I don't think there will be any Phish shows this year. The way everything has gone and continues to go, cases rising, new variants on and on, things won't start to get back to normal until the end of this year and Phish is going to be conservative. They are not going to be the first ones to host big concerts. No way they want to be guinea pigs.

It sounds like they hope to be 50-80% capacity by July and then 100% by Fall or whenever the "green" level happens in CA.
Interesting they say they expect these to happen without any official word from the band that they would play these, or any, reduced capacity events. Seems like its pretty much hopes and dreams to get people to buy some tickets.
edit: and yeah Shoreline is like 22k capacity they could just move it outdoors if restrictions do ease up.
I think everyone is planning on big shows this summer, otherwise they'd be cancelled. As of now there's a full phish tour on their website and tix are onsale. Things have moved forward a ton in the last month and we still have more than 3 months to go. It ain't over till the fat lady sings!
I don't see why it wouldn't be possible assuming a secure proof of vaccination app is implemented in time for concert season. Screw you anti-vaxxers!!!

Yeah I saw that, Coors field had 50% on opening day weekend. 1/2 of those were vaxed healthcare workers though. Too bad none of the tour dates are in FL or TX; they could play this weekend.
I just got tickets for the Nuggets game this month at 25% capacity but if the reopen moves quick I guess I can see things back to 'normal' by summer.

It's stupid shit like this that prevents us from having nice things. I would think that we could possibly have a chance at summer shows if people just stayed the course for a little bit longer. But shit like this going on and covid numbers basically skyrocketing again and I think we are still doomed. Everyone going on Spring Break and traveling for Easter and what do people expect. 75K cases a day and going up, next week we will be back to 100K cases a day, vaccine rollout or not. But I still hope there's a chance!
Newsom just announced that California is opening fully as of June 15. So who knows. Maybe giant indoor concerts will be happening after all.

The city was filled with thousands of NCAA fans for March Madness. One guy from Alabama has already died from the 'VID he caught while here.

One of the funniest things I've read in a long time.

Not that, but I have another 'systems' problem: I get my mail at a PO Box, and that's the billing address for all my cards, etc. Delivery services like FedEx & UPS come to my house all the time. And PTBM uses UPS delivery. But they also use the USPS database. So I have two good addresses at which I can receive mail or packages, but PTBM/Dry Goods currently can't accept that tiny complexity, and I appear to be out in the cold for this request period. Goddammit.
ETA: I was being impatient & stupid. Just needed to use both addresses, one for shipping, the other for billing.
it hurts that i'm out for the new eugene and gorge dates, but i'm pretty stoked to already have pavilion seats for the first show back. this was a one off for me for no other reason than to see them in arkansas. i got lucky i guess. i'm sure it's totally sold out already.
Oak Mtn > Alpharetta > Nashville and last 2 nights of Vegas. :rawk: :beerbang: :rawk: :beerbang:

y'all think these fall shows will be as high ticket demand as summer?
I'm about to put in my ticket request and wondering if I should put in for all the fall shows to use as trades for summer tickets(?) -- at the very least Vegas tix should be worth something for trade if I can't make it...
eta: fuck it, I just put in for everything, lol. I figure you can't go wrong w/ 4 - 4 day Vegas passes ....
Also, this was the first time I actually looked at the routing for Fall -- I wanna know who the badasses are that make the drive from SF > Eugene > Phoenix cuz that's a trek!

Well Eugene was already on sale but I put in requests for the other 11 shows. Normally I'd be weary of getting stuck with lawns but only two of thirteen venues even have lawns for this fall tour.

If you're in the front half of Chula Vista lawn its not bad at all. Venue is pretty flat. Not sure about Phoenix

a late fall evening on the lawn in Southern California doesn't sound too shabby to me!

Patience. People who aren't scalping often buy tickets to see shows. When the shows actually come around, plans change, tickets go up.

cant wait to get back there. 2014 was probably one of the best times I have had at Phish even though the shows weren't that good. Ended up at this crazy nice resort with a beachfront room where you could walk out from the patio to the beach. The shows were early because of SB curfew I think doors were 4-430 PM and they ended by 9-930PM. Looks like the start time is 6PM again this year. Tickets were everywhere. Both nights I remember at least a dozen tickets out front. They gave out reusable metal Phish cups and got $1 off the beer for bringing it back up every time. Phish -> nights on the Beach -> beachfront brunch were pretty much the theme. Almost didn't want to go back to LA for the Forum haha.

Yeah, the shows weren't great but it's as good a venue as any out there. So awesome. Totally different situation than the Gorge or RR. In a lot of ways I prefer it, primarily because it is 1/2 the size of RR and 1/4 the size of Gorge and a lot easier to get to than either. Really want to go back but it's tough if I want to make Vegas happen. The timing is bad for me.

Last year there were tix on the ground (I ate one) but there were two nights last time. But, last time they re-released pit tix the night before each show, so maybe they will do that again this time. I bought a pit from TM the night before and couldn't give away the seat I had. Killer venue...Californians never show up for the Phish so maybe it will be easy again, especially with other So Cal shows the same week.

From how tickets look this year, PHX/SoCal/Vegas(?) will be the only shows I hit this year. Def down for a beachfront resort, I think it was the Hilton Resort there, but looking into airbnbs at the moment too

You are not crazy, and thats a drastic change for sure! Seems odd to me seeing that he has learned all his piano/organ parts using the opposite hands?.. innnteresting
Maybe his ring finger finally fell off and he had to start from scratch.

Prankster roadies?
I can only remember the piano positioned so Page would be facing across the stage while playing it head-on. But I'll admit I stopped paying close attention to this sort of detail over the last decade or so.

https://phish.com/news/summer-tour-begins-tonight-please-read/ (https://phish.com/news/summer-tour-begins-tonight-please-read/)QuoteThis summer tour has been a long time coming, and everyone is thrilled to finally kick it off tonight! As excited as we are to be back on tour, the world is not yet back to normal. If you?re coming out to a show this summer, it goes without saying that with the recent rise of coronavirus infections nationwide, a good measure of caution and common sense will go a long way towards keeping everyone as safe and healthy as possible. As we?ve said, the best thing you can possibly do before coming to a show is to GET VACCINATED! Furthermore, as social distancing is not possible inside the venues, we highly recommend wearing a mask at these outdoor shows when closer than 6 feet to others, regardless of whether or not you?re vaccinated. Being vaccinated AND wearing a mask at these shows is the best way you can show love and respect for our incredible community.
While venues will have quantities of free masks available at every show (for tonight?s show, there are masks available at the medical station inside the main gate), please be sure to bring your own. Please check with venue websites before you head to the shows to see what containers are permissible to bring in; many venues have adopted a clear bags policy in an effort to minimize contact upon entry.
We ask that you please DO NOT COME to the show if you have tested positive or been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days, or are experiencing symptoms of the virus.
Thanks for keeping these precautions in mind ? we?re all in this together. It takes each one of us to make sure that we can all continue to see live music safely.
Phish issued a statement?

Step 1: Get a camelback
Step 2: Fill it with beer
Step 3: Affix the drinking nozzle to the inside of your mask
Step 4: Consume mass quantities
I'm going to see how vaping through a mask works when I get home tonight. :wtu:

You are not crazy, and thats a drastic change for sure! Seems odd to me seeing that he has learned all his piano/organ parts using the opposite hands?.. innnteresting
My buddy got to watch the tech rehearsal. He said the arena sounded great. Said they set up on the floor, no stage. He also said it was pretty surreal to watch them play to an entirely empty arena. I hope they go back there some time. He told me that the idea behind the Page's new set-up was so that he would be closer to Trey on the stage. I guess it didn't make as big a difference as they had hoped, but they are sticking with it. Also learned that Page has a new piano which is pretty cool. Never occurred to me that they probably don't switch out grand pianos too often lol. Both Trey and Mike have new techs and Mike's new tech is name Jeff Tweedy lol. Both Mike and Trey and have had their rigs modified fairy extensively since bringing on the new techs.
Yeah pretty sure Page has played the same Yamaha piano since at least 2.0. Although he talked about swapping out the hammers in that rig video in 2013 or whatever.
I wonder what he got, Steinway maybe?

Caravan, can you confirm a story for me? Might be common knowledge, I forget: Page held out on playing "Loving Cup" live until the band budgeted for a grand piano to take on tour? Like, I assume he had his own instrument at his house, but he used "Loving Cup" as an incentive for the band to pay for a touring instrument?
You think this will make it to fall tour though? If Cali goes on lockdown at anytime between now and then those shows will prob be cancelled.

Oftentimes, both in compositions and jams, Page will hold out chords on the organ with one hand and then play the grand piano with the other hand. I think its pretty standard to play organ left hand and your single note melodies with the right hand - which is how Page always used to do it.
But now that he switched them up, he would have to use opposite hands for each part.. which.. Apparently isnt as hard for Page as I would have thought. Probably because he is a beast.
Aahh... I see. Thanks!
Now the B3 is directly opposite the piano - clearly he's still playing with this setup to see what he likes.

With 12 more shows of Summer tour, they could probably make a decent Live Bait just from this tour.
my feet are just now getting back on earth. my summer shows are over and i'll...gulp...be back to work on monday. i missed this shit so much and wish i could see them all. the vibe in nashville was fantastic. i was 8th row directly in front of trey for night 2, and i loved that show so much.
then we had a crazy old school crew for 3 nights at deer creek. the friday show blew us all away. the crowd energy was about 100 times better than arkansas. i love a good old fashioned midwestern barn burner. saturday put us on another planet, and sunday confused the hell out of me. how can a band that i've seen a million times still confuse me? anyone who doesn't like deer creek sunday is a damn fool.
what a perfect 3 night run!

Aaaannnd.... Here's the announcement. The Gorge and all shows after will require vax or Negative test for entry. So all you dirty wooks get your kicks in this weekend.
not surprised by this as it's the new wave of the music biz. there's no way in hell they're cancelling any of these outdoor summer shows. i just don't know if i trust the process. deer creek could barely get the phish crowd into the venue on time and all we had to do was walk thru metal detectors.

Good job Phish. Probably gonna be a clusterfuck at some venues but this seems like the next logical step if we all still want to see live music
MSG started offering half price food pre-show to encourage early entry. Still, Phish heads LOVE to hang out on lot until the last minute, crush at the door be damned.

We did the same thing. Getting out Friday night was a claustrophobic nightmare, so we just hung out on the lawn till the staff made us leave the next two nights. This will probably make tickets easy to come by out west.
Yeah lines at the Gorge are gonna be brutal, but obvs it's the right thing to do.
Glad their doing that and def curious on the lines to get in. My buddy from Boone that was vending the whole tour (non dualistic designs) just tested positive and dropping off tour.
I've seen several reports of people having to bail on AC due to covid caught on tour.
I imagine that there are plenty who won't go home if they wake up sick. This probably won't help too much, tbh. If you're vaccinated, you can still enter the show if you're sick. Please do not.
So I'm assuming everyone has noticed the latest progression of Trey's tendency to sing the lyrics a little behind the typical rhythm, ala Bob Dylan or Weir. Is this just an age thing in that musicians get bored of their lyrics and feel the need to change it up to keep them interested? I don't listen to Phish necessarily for the vocals but I guess I've never understood it to the extent that some musicians do it. I get switching it up a bit but when it throws off the momentum of a tune, I feel they've gone too far. I just hope this will not become the norm. 2 cents.
Think Trey's vocal delivery has gotten a bit loose on some things. It's improved a little as they tour has continued or at least I noticed it more when it began.
I've definitely noticed Trey singing a bit behind the rhythm. I'm okay with it, I just feel stupid when I'm singing along and Trey sings it differently.
I do wish he would stop putting emphasis on some lines though. For all of 3.0 and now 4.0, the line in Sand "I'd have myself to blame" is shouted rather than subtly sung. I like it better the old way.
I don't mind if he plays with timing/phrasing but the Broadway vibrato is beyond cringe, especially when he does it on old tunes like Free.

You're right about all of this and I connect it with Trey's tendency over the past few years to apply more flourish and spontaneity to the vox in general. There was some picture of him stageside watching some pop star at Bonnaroo when Phish played there last time. I like to imagine he saw this person doing, like, a professional singer's job of stylizing their performance and thought he should do the same. What's funny is when he can't decide how much to commit to the gimmick, i.e. Everything's Right.

I've had it in my head enough lately that I was imagining, and writing out, a full-on Boat/water based setlist for a Phish show.
I'm going to give Sci-Fi Soldier a few more listens so that I'm more familiar with all of the musical elements and then give Summer Tour a complete register to see if they were jamming any of the new songs back then. I have a feeling I'm going to notice something, aside form Fish's 'Uhuyyyha' sound effect.
