I don't like the fact that I can be on the 'paug and randomly the notifications will show up for threads that have had no activity for awhile but I posted in months ago. (Usually the same notifications that pop up when I first come to the site and "x" them out at that time) Don't know if this can be fixed.
I did like the pop up during the LST yesterday to let you know someone had posted while you were still on the 'paug looking at other threads.

Doesn't bother me, but I also don't have to deal with threads from years ago popping up.
Don't ever go on a Paug hiatus. Notifications will own the right side of your screen.
I vote kill or manual disable.
we don't have the ability to let you disable it on a per-user basis. sorry, but we didn't write the plugin, and the features are what they are.

I still use the "New Replies To Your Posts" option, so that works fine for me. I'm pretty much indifferent, but I don't use it.

I find them buggy and useless, usually, but as Meredith said they were nice for the LST last night.
