could Mike possibly kill Wolfman's jams any harder than he does?  they've been just about my favorite thing to hear in 2009 even though they're only a few minutes at a time.

8-)
So Saturday night was mellower for my crew, mostly b/c everyone partied themselves stupid Friday, but also b/c we were joined by a friend with his two elementary school age kids. I didn't get introduced, but I'm going to say the boy was 11, the girl 8. Just guessing.

Anyway, by the time we got through 7 Below and Ghost, they were pretty sedate. It was well after their bedtimes, I'm sure, and the sensory overload of all that new, strange input--you could just tell. But Wolfman's starts, and the little girl was up and boogying from the first notes through Julius, to the encore break.

Point being, Mike brings it in Wolfman's--just ask an 8 year old.

I kind of look at Joy as the new Waste.

But that might just be me.
Never thought of it that way, but I enjoy them both so seems reasonable to me. Actually I'd much rather hear Joy at this point but I'm no waste hater. It has a time and a place. (panty dropper)

:wtu:

AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT FINDS JOY TO BE AN INCREDIBLY DEPRESSING SONG? TREY SHOULD BUST OUT THE BLACK NAIL POLISH WHEN PLAYING IT.

i've been referring to it as "trey's rehab tune"
nothing i see can be taken from me...

choice of words being used to make point.....ummm....FAIL.

Who's the Marmar? I'm the Marmar!!!

Phish doesn't write beautiful music...the beautiful music happens after the written parts.

<gainesvillegreen> now, if they could get their sound to be as good as the lights, we'd have a band hee-yah!!

Music is what feelings sound like.

They definitely have been practicing.  I think almost all of fall tour so far is a step ahead of the summer shows as a whole.

Now after listening to this -7>ghost a few times now I've noticed a few things...

I will say that between those 2 jams, we def have the best improv of the year.  However, I can't really say that either song was played great as a cohesive whole.

Honestly, both of the jams have about 10+ minutes of aimless meandering, it really seems like Trey is lost or run out of ideas at times, there were a couple of times during the -7 jam were it really felt like it was going to take off somewhere, but then never did..... but, the payoff does come, so I'm just so glad that they kept on forging ahead to see what came next because both songs have moments of pure bliss that are few and far between in 3.0

also, anyone notice the "Glory Days" tease by Trey @ the end of 7 below?  (might have been unintentional, but def sounded like BRUCE!)

Also this YEM is $.  Straight ahead rock your face off, one of the best this year imo.

I agreed up until the aimless noodling part.  Seven Below and Ghost are both played horribly until the jam.  The jams are butter.

Yes, the YEM is the tits.  Best 3.0 YEM (I also like Brahgetsdown).

Ew. Really? Why?

Because it was awesome.

I'm not sure if I followed this thread correctly, but what guys are saying is that Dave Thomas sold crack in inner-city DC in the mid-80's, right?
