Meh
Prob the worst Charlotte show of 3.0
Psyched for mpp!!!

Almost like two first sets but with a big jam in one of them (which is how more first sets should be)

Best slash most fun first set I've seen in a while.
Weird second set.
Is this still Wombat?

sophist

Very weird show.  Moments of bliss, intertwined with meandering and some slop.  I thought the Chalkdust had a few cool moments.  The Tube in the first set was really weird to me.  A lot of weird song placements last night.

Crowd was not into the show at all last night, which added for a very distant vibe with the band.

I had a fantastic time with dirty.  We stayed on the lawn, which was about 70% full.  I'll post a more detailed writing of last night once I recover.  I just got home, and I am feeling last night.
Can we talk about the Dead?  I'd love to talk about the fucking Grateful Dead, for once, can we please discuss the Grateful FUCKING Dead!?!?!?!

mehead

First listen thru first set. Zero energy IMO.  Too bad after a Mike's opener.  Thought Tube was straight forward.  Bowie was Bowie.  Broken Heart and Golgi were rough to say the least.

It really makes ya wonder doesn't it?

How in the hell can they STILL be so sloppy THIS far into a tour.......I mean seriously.....even the worst lower level bands seem to play with more consistency than this. It's almost as if Trey's worst fears have come true.....

Who's the Marmar? I'm the Marmar!!!

Phish doesn't write beautiful music...the beautiful music happens after the written parts.

<gainesvillegreen> now, if they could get their sound to be as good as the lights, we'd have a band hee-yah!!

Music is what feelings sound like.

Had fun. Hated the show.

Ramz and I dipped sometime after Twist.

This band always has ups and downs, especially in 3.0.

Can't wait for tonight.
Just two whiskies, officer.

I'm not sure if I followed this thread correctly, but what guys are saying is that Dave Thomas sold crack in inner-city DC in the mid-80's, right?

I haven't heard a lick of this show yet... but I can't abide this charge of Nostalgia act. Even if I just take the special Wedge as an obvious example, this band is trying new things and touring on a entire new and vital album.

Nostalgia acts MAY have a new album out when they go on tour, but they will bury one or two tracks from it early in the show - usually with some sort of apologetic "bear with us while we play a couple of new songs." This is generally met with groans and a bee-line to the beer stand.

When Phish starts up Fuego, the crowd goes nuts. This is a band still charting new territory and being creative. Will they have off nights? Sure. Sounds like last night may have been one of them. I don't know. But an off-night does not a nostalgia act make.

I'll actually agree that it is not nostalgia.
the new songs are "practiced" (well, they recorded them and are playing them a lot). the "hits" aren't hits at shows.
I look at this tour and I think this is what Phish wanted when they came back.  You can go back to Mike making the comment about not coming back under the same name and only playing new material.  Joy was written too early in their new era.  This is an album that they are proud of and they want to play the shit out of these songs because this is how they see themselves in 2014.  it's the new Phish.
I'm not commenting on who likes what new songs and so forth but I can see them doing another new album fairly soon.  Honestly, Fuego's release is the beginning of 3.0 too me.  This is the new era of Phish.
some like it and some hate it, but this is what I think we can expect from this point on.

If anything, 2014 seems like the farthest they've been from a nostalgia act since '09, IMO.

Tons of new material, jammed out Fuegos, they dropped a lot of the predictable set 2 cover jams (C&P, R&R etc.), jamming a couple older songs in new ways.  I'd say they seem more excited and revitalized by the new material than ever in 3.0. Trey's always going to have good nights and bad nights. I don't think he sounds particularly better or worse than the last few years. Bout the same, IMO.

Plunking down hard earned dough to see the phish and missing Reba cuz you left early is akin to taking an upper decker in your own toilet.
