Hey all

Recently DLed this show off of BT, and just got around to decoding it to listen.  Problem is the show doesnt decode.  I did a checksum of the flac fingers and everything checks out ok, but when i try to decode the files, only the 1st song from the encore will decode, and even then, it doesnt properly work.

Anyone else have this problem with this show or with flacs in general?  Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like your files arent complete.  Do they pass a flac 'test?'  My files decode to .wav normally with no apparant errors, and all files sound great when I listen to them.  I have not burned an audio cd from them, I only decoded them for this test.

Not yet.  Whats the error it throws when it fails?
-AD_

jedifunk

there is no error or failure.  it goes thru the entire decoding process for the whole show, but when go to the folder where the aiff/wav files should be, all there is is a file called ph98-7-20.aiff and its just the halleys encore.  the rest of the show is missing.

any ideas whats going on?

fwiw, i'm on a mac running 10.3.7, using xACT to decode my files.  i've never had any problems using the application with any of my other shows.

Weird.  Other flac files decode properly?

Yo jedi,

You ever get this working?  I have a question for you too.  I use macflac, have you tried it?  What makes you choose xACT?  Cuz it does SHN also?  I seem to remember it using older flac binaries but they could be on the same version now.  Maybe I should hit that up.  Maybe you could try another decoder just for the fun of it.

Good call, Jephrey.  I seem to remember that discussion on the furthur forums about the older binaries not working with the newer flac.

hey, i used to use macflac, but when i found xACT i went with it.  it says in the text file with it that the flac binarys are from the author of macflac so i assumed it was the same and also had shn support.

other flacs have decoded fine in the past (havent tried any since this problem occurred).

maybe i'll give macflac another try.  thanks.

I saw that for xAct, the binaries were version 1.1.0  I don't know what they are for MacFlac (I am not at home right now and didn't do a very extensive search).  there is a beta version for xACT 1.4...  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xACT-users/files/  You have to be signed in to yahoo to get it.  My wife's got access so I could send it to you from home if it's not to big for an email or some other method (3.7M).  You could try that too.  I may take another look at xACT too.  If I remember right, it's the one that changes all the damn flac icons to something weird(not that it totally matters).  Nope, that's Flacer.  MacFlac leaves the icons alone.

There is a version 1.1.1 that is supposed to speed up decoding

http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html

There are other resources at that main page.

On its way to your hotmail addy.  I am re-installing, it didn't decode shns.  I may not have had all the stuff I needed installed.  I'll install it clean and see what goes.
