Fall 07 is the fucking tits. Top Notch Bisco!

Boone 07 show http://www.mediafire.com/?jcyh0eq8wil3x#shy3ms423nvzm,1
If you wanna hear some good bisco, bump that. Brownstain has said that this ladies jam is one of the top three jams they have ever done. He said they had a sound or some idea of where they wanted to go with the jam and they executed it perfectly. Sick show.
Ceiling tiles were dropping by the end of the night. My friend and I were driving down the street that cuts through campus that night at like 5 am and brownie was jogging down the street in plain clothes soaked in sweat. We pulled over and asked if he needed a ride and looked at us all bug eyed and was said he was just going for a morning run  :hereitisyousentimentalbastard

That sounds about right.

I read somewhere that he is completely sober now? Like he quit smoking weed and everything? After watching a few interviews and what not, I got the feeling that was an Oxycontin addict. Do you know anything about that?

but yeah, was browsing through livedownloads.com and came across this show, and it caught my attention. But it wasn't in the medaifire folder or dumpcity forum where I get all my shows, but I found it elsewhere. I loaded it up on my iPod, but haven't got around to listening yet. I had a few the Phish Gorge '99 shows and Camp from 2010 lined up before this show. Yes, I know, I am a nerd and write out lists of shows to listen to for the week and follow it pretty strictly.

I also have 2007-10-12 on my list for Sunday. 32 minute RLH opener and a 40 minute Robots set II opener!

Yeah he is completely sober now. I dont know about his opiate addiction, I would say they just liked to party. Everytime I have hung out with Brownie we puffed and were doing things that kept you awake. He would never ask for opiates or anything. Barber on the other hand will ask for just about anything. I saw him before the show in Raleigh in 2010 I think? And asked him to play Jigsaw and he said only if I had a vivance or something like it. HA.
Another funny biscuits story-My friends and I were raging on the beach in SC after the second night of the Windjammer shows two years ago and brownie and magner and barber just come stumbling up on our crew and we sat and smoked like 10 bowls with them. They were fucked up. We had some nice Sour D and brownie just kept asking us to pack it up and my friend ended up just giving them a quarter of it and told brownie to play Aquatic Ape....which they did in KY a couple nights later. Me and my crew were full on  :rawk: :rawk: :rawk: :rawk: :rawk: :rawk: when they dropped into that a couple nights later.

Late night Ramshead show is sweet too and richmond...oh how I have missed some good bisco. A good friend told me they are most likely calling the quits after that Holidaze shit. Sad that they had to end on such a low spot....even tho they have been like that for the past year and a half-two years, IMO

Pretty fucking awesome stories d00d.

I believe it. Have you seen this interview? If not, watch it and tell me he wasn't on ecstasy or something along those lines.

Also, emay, have you seen any of Barbers DJ'ing videos? They're pretty embarrassing.

Sounds like a mid-life crisis to me.

:hereitisyousentimentalbastard They def need some sort of direction. Whatever they are doing now is not working. Its almost like they all went out on their own solo producer/DJ acts. Conspirator has gone significantly downhill these days too.

I've never listened to a second of Conspirator, not do I want to.

tDB is as far as I'll go when it comes to anything electronic, and early Biscuits features very little electronic music, and I prefer that era over the others.

I think Barber is the reason why the band is in the rut they are in currently. I think everyone in the band wants to tour except for him. It seems like all he wants to do at the moment is party with a bunch of tweenie boppers and play shitty music for them. I hate dubstep, but his material is especially shitty.

Here's an interview with Magner from a week or so ago.

http://blogs.browardpalmbeach.com/countygrind/2011/10/conspirator_aron_magner_disco_biscuits.php

This quote kinda confirms that Barber is the reason for the current state of the band.

Quote
Fans seem to think that [Disco Biscuit guitarist] Jon Gutwillig doesn't want to tour. Is that the case?

You know, man, that's gonna be a question that you should ask him directly. And let me know what that answer is.

I like Magner personality-wise, but this part made me :shakehead:

Quote
What music have you been listening to recently?

"I've kind of been raiding [Conspirator guitarist Chris] Michetti's iTunes recently, listening to a lot of Porter Robinson, lots of Skrillex, there's some new Deadmau5 that came out the other week. I guess at this point, I'm trying to expose myself to as much new electronic music that is out there. It's interesting, 'cause the way I'm finding out about music is by blogs."

Gave this show a spin yesterday, along with moe.'s show from the same date. I'm still a Biscuits n00b, but I learned very quickly that I love these earlier shows much, much better than latter day shows. I'm not much of a fan of electronic shit, and these early shows features very little of it, although I must admit, sometimes the electronic sound fits well with some jams, but in very small amounts. I can only take so much electronic stuff at once. But if they can hold off on it all together, I like it much more.

It's a remaster, and I did a comparison, and it sounds much better than the original.

So, I'm not super up on Bisco history or older stuff, but man... I just discovered the 38 minute Memphis from 4/30/99 and... WOW.  Holy good god!

The first little theme that Barber and Magner develop together between the guitar and piano is fucking transcendent.  And they get into it so quickly!

You hear Magner tease the notes right within the first couple bars of the 1st jam, just 2 minutes into the song.  It sounds as if Magner hits the notes, and then after he plays a different chord, Barber picks up on the first notes.  I can't quite tell.

Man I wish there was an sbd of this!  Wow!!!!
