Every now and then I get pissed and feel the need to write some shit. It happened this morning. If you're on FB, please like and share for me so more people see it.

We all know this quote. In it lies so much of the promise of the United States of America. We strive to be a more perfect union with every passing generation. That is why equating Washington and Jefferson with Lee is completely misguided. In the two generations of Americans that passed between these men the moral compass of the our country shifted away from slavery.

Just as the early 20th century saw the moral compass shift away from robber-barons and toward providing a social safety net for our citizens. Just as the mid-20th century saw the moral compass shift away from Jim Crow. Just as in the time between my parents generation and my own the moral compass has shifted toward marriage equality for the LGBTQ community.

This is called progress. It comes in fits and starts. There will always be setbacks. There will always be those who resist. But it cannot be stopped.
