again... not sure where you want to "stream" the music.

- to a set of speakers?
- over the internet?

ok, now i can help.

go here and grab this kick ass software to setup your own net radio station.... or to simply stream music over the web

QuoteNicecast is the easiest way to broadcast music from OS X. Broadcast to the world, or just across your house. Nicecast can help you create your own internet radio station or allow you to listen to your iTunes Music Library from anywhere in the world!

I don't have it on now, but when I did they said it wasnt working.  I forwarded port 8000 for nicecast but still no luck.  Is there something else I need to do?

You have web sharing enabled?  I just enable most of them so I know that won't ever be my problem.  I might start up nicecast...

Anyone want to try mine?  Everything over 20 minutes gets noise over it so it'll sound like crap.  I also lowered the quality- I really just want to see if it works, then maybe I can help troubleshoot yours whyweigh.

works for me

I have a wireless router.  So Im guessing that the problem lies in there somewhere.  I did open port 8000 but I could have messed something up

FWIW, I didn't open up the port on my router...

So do you have web sharing enabled? (System Prefs > Sharing)?

Try it with a low bitrate at first

Use the Server Checker button on the share drawer/button.  Does it check out?

You'll briefly mess things up, but you can see if the m3u is available for you by typing your local address into safari.  It should try to open it up in iTunes, but it'll be a big loop because nicecast will play what you're receiving from nicecast. - Just FFWD to the next song.
