Wow, looking for an iPod touch, a new ax, and a speaker system all in the same month.  Must have been a pretty good summer financially. :-o

For an Amp I'd look for Integra or Sherwood, DVD players - go cheap... you'll buy a Blu-Ray a year or two down the road probably.

Integras are kind of a rip off, a lot of them are the same as the higher end Onkyos with a different chassis.

But, I don't think our fans do happily lap it up, I think they go online and talk about how it was a bad show.

I love 'em, I install one or two a week and have never seen one blow or go in for service.

Don't get me wrong I like Onkyo, but I just don't think the extra $ for an Integra is worth it.

Right, I don't have to pay for them, I just install them.

I own a Sherwood Newcastle R-963 which I didn't have to pay for, and it's gorgeous too.

As for DVD, don't pay more than $100 and make sure it's got at least component outputs.

I'm looking around online now.  Basically I don't want anything HUGE.  But I want something that is going to sound nice.  The room it will be in is a fairly small room.  Not looking to pump sound out to the neighbors, but I want to enjoy watching TV and movies and games with a nice picture and sound

or I can spend a little more with this.  Forgot to mention this will be for the bedroom.  Which doesn't have an HDTV.  But it will in time

ya know.  After I made this post it got me thinking.  Perhaps I should wait on the sound system and concentrate on a new TV.  The one in here now is old and small :?

VA $l!m

i had a thread like this a couple years back.
i ended up with one of those HTIB Onkyo's.....

not bad for the $$, but at this point i'd have to recommend spending the extra cash and buying the componets/speakers separately. mainly because generally a company that makes great receivers isnt the same company that makes great speakers, IMO.
