The drum? That's surprising.

The drum? That's surprising.
Why? What's it like?
You may notice that once Southpark Meadows shut down Phish never played Austin again until they had an opportunity to play ACL Fest. They could have played the Erwin Center any time... they never did. The sound is atrocious in there unless you are really close to the stacks. It's just not built for music at all.
Still, I've seen some good shows there. I'm just surprised to see RH will play there.
The schedule seems kinda odd to me also. Two nights in Florida then starting in earnest in the Midwest? Weird...

Ha! I'm going to go ahead and make an unsubstantiated rumor. They want an extra day in each city to enjoy America because it's their last tour.

Thom has some wicked moves to go with those tender pipes. Dude probably needs a spa day and a lot of mint tea after a tour opener.
Stoked to see some additional dates added.

Damn mine wont even let me pick the # of tickets, still saying tickets not on sale. :frustrated:
I wonder how much these tickets will be in a month or so. One guy's tickets on eBay were shipping from Arizona, fucking scalpers.
When I saw they were playing 1st Bank here in CO, as it is only 5 minutes from my house, I thought I might be interested in seeing this band for the first time.
Are tickets generally $200-$600 per for this band?

waiting for the real tour dates to drop..
I had no luck but my buddy scored two tix to the Broomfield shows...
If his brother happens to back out, the extra ticket is allll mine (I don't see that happening though)
got thru at 1030! for atl
Looks like Hicks, Caravan2001 and myself are hitting the Seattle show in April! :rawk:

They're taping an episode of ACL!

QuoteIt probably goes without saying that here at ACL TV HQ we have a big wish list. (Not to mention a fondness for initials.) So we're always excited when an artist from that list moves over to our taping schedule. We're thrilled that Radiohead is the latest name to make the transition. The band, who is on tour in support of their latest LP The King of Limbs, brings their legendary live show to ACL Live at The Moody on March 6 to dazzle our cameras and, of course, our audience.
As always there will be a public giveaway. Be sure to keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter pages – and, of course, the blog – for information on how you can witness this most highly acclaimed and beloved of bands in ACL action.
But's that's not all because we are so excited, we are offering a pair of tickets to one lucky person for signing up for our newsletter. Sign up today for a chance to win a pair of tickets to what will certainly be one of the most talked about ACL tapings in recent history.
Stay tuned.

Shit was right, best show I have seen in a loong time, will hit again. Had a blast for a quick moment with JPhishman and Burmese and raged the show with Caravan and Hicks. As we were all talking smack about the VA paug crew vs NW none of us realized our prime #1 opportunity slip through our fingers. Next time.
One day we will combine forces...the world better watch the fuck out.

I appreciate a good mercenary.
VA crew has the numbers but we've also got a lot of n00bs.
There will be a contingent throwing down at MCI Center and we'll probably skip the #1 too cos we see each other all the time.

Yep, show was dope. Great time, great show. I was impressed with the venue. We were about 75-100 feet back DFC. The sound was intense. Too bad Phish has their heads so far up their ass they'll never play there.... :shakehead: Radiohead kicked ass though...

How was the show?
It was pretty damn awesome! Me, RJ, Blat and Mrs. Blat were about 50 feet from the stage for most of the show. The stage had a series of screens suspended above the band and they would move into different formations for different songs. I'm not really doing it justice with my explanation and I didn't really take any pics or vids once they started. I really was some next level shit, and their playing was really on point.

I'm going and meeting up with some people. Half hr cab is gonna be pricey, take the subway. $3 there and back and it supposedly drops you right off at the venue.
It does.

On the weekend a day pass for 2 adults costs $12, makes sense if you're going anywhere else during the day.

That's nuts. Was it windy or just poorly built?
I wonder if it had to do with the screens that precariously hang over the bands heads and move around.
Coupla hours later and bye bye radiohead.

It's not windy here today. They've had lots of large staged events at Downsview Park in the past.
Seems like it was just an accident.

It still could be bye bye, they haven't released any info on the victims and this could easily have been soundcheck.

QuoteThe stage at Downsview Park in Toronto collapsed this afternoon just hours before Radiohead were scheduled to play to a sold-out crowd, CBC News reports.
The band was not onstage at the time, but one person was killed and three others were injured in the collapse. The concert, whose gates were scheduled to open at 5 p.m., has been cancelled.
Toronto fire captain Mike Strapko told CNN that a "scaffolding-type structure collapsed" some 40 to 60 feet about the main stage area as the victims were setting up for the concert around 4 p.m. There were no strong winds or other dangerous weather conditions at the time.
A statement on Radiohead's website says that tickets will be refunded, and advises fans not to make their way to the venue.
The accident comes after a number of recent stage collapses at high profile shows raised concerns about safety at concerts. Seven people were killed at the Indiana State Fair last August when high winds knocked down scaffolding and speakers, and just last Saturday, the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas was shut down by windstorms, forcing the cancellation of some headlining sets.

Note: show was originally planned to be a Dark Side of the Moon set but changed in tribute after the Radiohead stage collapse
I've said it before and I'll say it again... Not a big fan of the music he makes, but I love Wayne Coyne for what he does. Truly an inspiring dude.
He really is. Even though you're not a fan, I would recommend their documentary Fearless Freaks, I think you'd find it interesting.
It's a fascinating doc.
They're a beautiful and inspirational band.
So I'd been wondering if the person who was killed was local or touring crew.
I just saw on the twitter that the deceased was Radiohead's drum tech.

QuoteWe have all been shattered by the loss of Scott Johnson, our friend and colleague. He was a lovely man, always positive, supportive and funny; a highly skilled and valued member of our great road crew. We will miss him very much. Our thoughts and love are with Scott's family and all those close to him.

Ugh, horrible news.
Very sad news indeed.
The Flaming Lips show was off the hook though and definitely eased the pain off missing Radiohead.

Such a horrible event for everyone involved, I'm glad you were able to salvage your evening.
QuoteHello everyone,
As you will probably have heard the roof over the stage collapsed at our show in Toronto killing crew member Scott Johnson and injuring three other crew members. The collapse also destroyed the light show – this show was unique and will take many weeks to replace. The collapse also caused serious damage to our backline, some elements of which are decades old and therefore hard to replace.
Whilst we all are dealing with the grief and shock ensuing from this terrible accident there are also many practical considerations to deal with & consequently we have to try and reschedule the following shows:
June
30 Roma Hippodrome Capanelle
July
1 Firenze Parco delle Cascine
3 Bologna Arena Parco Nord
4 Codroipo Villa Manin
6 Berlin Wuhlheide
7 Berlin Wuhlheiee
9 St Triphon Carriere des Andonces
We aim to announce the new dates for these shows on Wednesday 27th of June and will also supply information on how to obtain refunds on tickets if you cannot come to the show on the new date.
We will start playing live again at Les Arenes Nimes, Bilbao BBK festival and Lisbon Optimus Alive festival.
We will make every effort to offer the fans the very best show possible under the circumstances – thanks for your understanding and support.
Kinda saw that coming, a huge bummer nonetheless.

Editing: BLG
Notes: Editing/EQ done via Adobe Audition. Editing involved correcting volume changes due to "auto-level" setting being on. This was a time consuming process and it is still not perfect, but much better than it was originally. The sound is pretty decent, but there are songs where the bass overloads a bit. There is also audience chatter between some songs.
Everything In Its Right Place cuts out on the recording and I faded out both encore breaks due to excessive audience noise./quote]

weirdest sendspace link ever, it tries to install some bs on your comp just say no and you should ultimately be able to extract the .zip like normal
Yeah, never saw that before but I figured it out.
Technically not 2012, here is a multi-cam video of the Roseland show I saw. Apparently, the band provided the soundboard audio for this, which is pretty cool of them.
