FWIW i went ahead and did a source by source comparison of about 7 sources, all of the active ones i could find, and i ended up choosing the Senns:

the only one i didnt get a chance to try was one of the NEumanns km150s:

which sorta bummed me,  but there was only one inactive seeder. i did try out the neumann 184s from 'teamdrink', and they were alright but overall i prefered the sound of the Senns which only real drawback is a tad of an echo.
