I'll take CCR over Metallica every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

THIS. Metallica haven't contributed shit to my musical landscape anyway.

Yep.  The post-Justice shit, unfortunately, outweighs the few albums of win in their catalog.  So they will not be getting my vote for that reason.

1- because they rock

2-our favorite bands are heavily influenced by them

3-I may have missed it, but the title says Paug Band March Madness, without reference to genre

4-Duke Ellington "there's only 2 kinds of music - good music and bad music"

5-Miles was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

added to your post.
I've been coming to where I am from the get go
Find that I can groove with the beat when I let go
So put your worries on hold
Get up and groove with the rhythm in your soul

Creedence had a short career but the records are, for the most part, pretty good -> great.
imo.

Not that any of it matters.

It's still just gonna come down to Phish vs Grateful Dead.

Have you run the entire bracket?
Not just based on your preferences but based on the group at large?

Pfft...you know TAB is gonna blow Phish out of the water right off the bat.

No, I haven't.  Perhaps it's just wishful thinking, but I could def. see some surprises in there.

I see your point, but personally, I'm going to have a hard time picking anyone over Marley.  To me, there's just no other music that works no matter the situation.

me?  none.  by the time i was old enough to see em, they began their descent into suck.
the first time i heard 'nothing else matters,' i shook my head and stopped caring about them.
i still rock their first 4 albums on the regular though.
