So I drove down to Maryland on Thursday to meet up with Cleech74 & Antelope19 for the Orioles game.
I arrived at Cleech's pad in the afternoon and met him and his ultra-cool GF, Samantha.
They gave me the tour of B'more and we rocked the bar for a bit.
They also turned me on to my first Natty Boh!

We went over to the stadium to meet with Antelope19 (aka Black Eyed Katy).
Had a few brews outside the stadium and had my first B'more Crab Cake.

O's took a late lump from the Red Sawx, but we still got a good show.
About a dozen slutty Sawx chicks took off their shirts in some sort of self-esteem scavenger hunt.
Antelope & I posted up right in front of them to document their potential.

Antelope graciously hooked me up with a place to crash after game at his place in Annapolis. He had leather-bound books and it smelled of rich mahogany.

About a month ago, i had made tentative plans to meet RJ for a game at RFK.
Long story short...Meet up on > Possible > On > Off > Meet for a drink but no game > Drinks n' game!
After getting mad lost in the D.C area, RJ helped navigate me to where i need to be.
We got some drinks on the water as the sun BLASTED down.
We made our way over to RFK nice and early and got to the lot without a hitch.
RJ scored a sweet pair of tix and parking pass, so we were golden!
Our seats were dope. Right by third, about 20 rows up.
Real good view.
Mets lost the game, though :cry: but i still had a blast chilling with RJ and seeing the Nats during their last year at RFK stadium.
HUGE THANKS TO RJ FOR THE TIX/PASS & GREAT CONVERSATION!
I drove back to my room in VA with a sixer of Dominion Lager to knock me out.

Had a great time last night.
Aug picked me up from wrok and we chilled along the potomac drinking beers in the sun; watching the rowers on the river and the ladies on the riverwalk...
A little taste of DC traffic (nothing notable) followed by a visit to the venerable RFK Stadium.
Yeah, the Mets lost, (sorry, Aug.) and there were no girls with their shirts off but the game was close to the last.
Hanging with Aug was great fun. Have to do that again sometime.
Samantha summed it up at the end of the day, saying, "That was the best day-off-work, EVER!"
Had a blast with Aug and Katy :wink:. Anyone ever wants to Rock-Out in Mobtown, hit me up. :-D

Met up with Alcohol&CoffeeBeans yesterday.
She had a lay over @ JFK for a bit so we grabbed a few drinks.
The story I'm supposed to tell is that her plane left early and she missed her flight. :-)
We went to see my buddy play at a bar in Brooklyn (missed that, too) and hung out with the trendiest of Hipsters in Williamsburg.
Crashed at my friend's loft and partied pretty late.
She got her first taste of a Brooklyn "bodega", too!

i go to the desk, get my ticket switched to the next Buffalo bound flight in the AM and call Aug.
he rescues me after about 35 laps around the JFK loop :) and off we go...
The bar was a pretty neat place, not anything like I'm used to.. then it's off to party it up in Brooklyn with his gang. SUPER COOL PEOPLE.
walked to the "bodega"... what a place! totally out of the movies... got some magic hat :-D and ventured back.
stayed up late, listened to good tunes, had awesome conversations with everyone and crashed out.
get up early and it's back to the airport for me... scheduled to leave at 11.25 don't get on the runway till 1. they weren't gonna let us leave till 4.15, but we got out.
shew. and that's it for the other one.....
was a great detour for my trip and i had a blast.
i was hopped up on cold meds at JFK so whiskey ht quicker than normal... so later i made sure as to not take anymore so i could hang with everyone.

mandi will find out when she wakes up, and I called RJ last night but I sure know how to turn a great night into a f'ed up one:
after I dropped Mandi off, I took the highway home, and I knew I was wasted so I called my buddy to talk me thru it. next thing I know I hit a curb or some shit and the tire busted instantly. so I think I pulled off on sort of an exit, but still in the turn lane or something cause when the trooper pulled up behind me he was like 'you gotta limp it a little farther' to get it out of the way. which I did. both troopers couldn't have been cooler (I mean I was WASTED and they could have taken me strait to jail and I wouldn't have blamed them). I told them I had someone coming to help me and they left me alone.
I had every thing I needed to change the tire exept the fucking lug wrench. when my buddy showed up he only had one size which of course didn't fit...somewhere in there I realized the damn rim was bent to shit so that really sucks.
my car's still on 95--I'm waiting for someone from work (where I should be right now) to come get me so I can get it...
but yes, it was a blast hanging out with Mandi all day, and when I found out we were meeting RJ and Igbo I was stoked--great guys, looking forward to the next meetup.

well, I finally made it back to Portland, still a little hurting from my night out with Aug.....Here's the one pic I took, which was basically my view of the bar from about midnight to 3....after that things got even blurrier! Made it back to my apt with Aug, sparked a solo doob and then one August became 6 Augusts and I knew it was time for me to crash. I felt like dogshit in the morning, but we had a great time.... I probably didn't need to mix in any Patron with the countless pints! State troopers especially I've never had a good experience with until last night. My dad's a detective for Richmond PD so I'm cool wit them.

Just wanted to say thanks to aug and his wonderful GF for putting me up on Saturday night. I had a blast and it was really, really cool to see Shea and Long Island for the first time. The only thing that I didn't like was the fact that I left the other half of my burrito in their fridge! :frustrated: :-D Green cactus Rules, BTW. If you're ever in that area, I would highly recommend stopping in for a burrito. Also, Aug talked me into picking up a six pack of Blue Point Hoptical Illusion. A solid IPA. Great beer to go along with Burritos and Cake and Phish DVD's. :-D Thanks buddy!

anyway, that Hoptical Illusion is a nice IPA for sure, really sharp aroma but a surprisingly smooth and well balanced blend of hops.
We were a little worried about the rain, but it ended up holding out until afterwards. So we ended up having beautiful weather for the game.

Next time we'll plan it better (my bad - we had a hail storm about 3 or 3:30, left late, forgot my camera, got there as the show started. Barely had time to pick up a couple Magic Hats).
I was expecting Ratdog to be pretty lame, but they were actually pretty good. TMNS, Red Rooster (w Derek), Hard Rain, and Dear Prudence were highlights for me. A valiant attempt at Dark Star. And yes, Bobby wore short shorts.
The Allmans smoked, right from the Statesboro Blues opener until the last notes of Whipping Post.
Trucks is the best guitar player on the planet, imo
no effects, no pick, just his hands, his vintage SG, and a Coricidin bottle. He makes it look so effortless. We were blown away last month at the SSR show, and even more last night.

Still semi-practicing, meaning I consider myself Catholic, actually make it to mass now and then, and I've been know to start reciting the Rosary in my mind during particularly stressful or difficult situations.
Catholic grammar schools only. I don't believe a word of it.

2 catholic grammer schools- Thomas moore & holy family
public the rest of the time, but i spent a year in catholic college...
middle school & high school i was the youth rep. on the parish council, all 6 years... bishop's convocations, national rep. for KY at national catholic youth conventions, twice... all that stuff..
i got really turned off after they fired my youth leader when i graduated from HS... and never got the youth program ever rolling again, to this day.
now?
i go on holidays to make my gramma happy... i get ashes and i don't give up things for lent, i try to be a better person, in some way...
there are lots of things that just don't settle with me in the church...
but being raised by two people who went to catholic school for 12 years, and met there in HS....
it's something that will more than likely be somehow part of my life, forever.

Parents sent me to Catholic School for 7-8th grade.
I HATED it there and switched back to public school for High School.
Now, I would consider myself agnostic. Definitely don't believe in catholocism, or organized religion, but am not opposed the idea of some sort of "higher power"
With all the catholic school alumni it now makes sense to me why almost everyone here is off their nut. :evil: :wink: :-)

My wife quit listening at thirteen--she wouldn't bow down and say she wasn't worthy. Her mom finally quit going to Mass after her priest weighed in from the pulpit against VT's civil unions, back in '99 or 2000.

yeah, that's probably pretty spot on...I'm not a woman or gay, and
I disagree with the Church's stance on some of these subjects...for a supposedly loving and forgiving God, (s)he (it?) can be pretty downright hateful at times!
A lot of dissatisfaction with the church has to do with misunderstandings of the teachings by both clergy and the congregation.
I pretty much summed up what I believe the true spirit of the church's teachings are on homosexuality in the Perez Hilton thread, but it looks like its been deleted.
Bottom line, all things related to human sexuality and the church's teachings stem from:

With the exception of weddings/funerals I've only been to a church once in my life. My parents were pretty anti-religion, but they did have me baptised "just in case".

Sure they're based on older doctrines, but the evolution of ideas is apparent in most western thinking.
The modern Catholic interpretation of God's teaching doesn't necessarily stem from the Christian Old Testament verse that so many other Christian religions like to parrot as proof of God's condemnation of homosexuals (I can't remember which verse it is off the top of my head, but I'm sure we've all heard it before), but rather from a respect for the role that sexuality plays in God's gift of life in the confines of marriage. This means that homosexuality isn't considered (or shouldn't be considered) any more a rejection of God than birth control, masturbation, or sex before marriage.
I certainly don't live in a world apart from all these influences. For one thing, I only can afford one kid right now. Secondly, I insist on visiting the Knee High Socks on Chicks thread :roll:. Thus I am really implicated as deeply in the eyes of God through my own actions in the use of my own sexuality act as any homosexual act would do. Therefore I don't believe that homosexuals are any less human or more prone to failure than I am.
I personally don't care if laws are passed to legalize homosexual marriage. Although it isn't the kind of marriage I believe in, based on my belief that the perfect union is between a man and a woman to bring forth the gift of life, as far as the state is concerned everyone should be given the same rights and responsibilities. There are much bigger fish to fry in my opinion that fall in line with Christian belief, including raising the poor from poverty, giving everyone the best medical care we can afford, making sure that greed doesn't rule our law, sticking up for the oppressed in other countries , etc.

Yeah, that's about how my parents felt when ours were born...if they decide to join a religion themselves when they are old enough, fine. Until then,we will teach them about as many religious traditions and cultures as possible, just because my wife and I find the subject to be fascinating. To be totally honest, I was baptised/confirmed an episcopalian(basically catholic-lite). But I don't really go anymore aside from Easter and Christmas, and even that is to make the 'rents happy.

Looks like me and whatstheuse missed each other at hampton, as well as a few others - I was hoping to talk drums with you, man! But i'll see you at various points on the tour so we'll make up for it...

A local band @ called God Johnson - guitar player is the same guy from the Big Wu.
Far from mind blowing, but a real good time nonetheless. Also, this was some special Valentine's Day show where they covered a bunch of Paul McCartney and Beatles tunes so that was extra fun.

Check out Pro Pig and the Bench in Waterbury/Stowe. Plus, of course, the Alchemist. There's a craft beer cellar right across the street from Pro Pig that's solid. Lots of great places in Burlington, too.
